The Red Deer Nordic Ski Club welcomes you to enjoy the beauty and splendor of our great winter wonderland in the company of experienced, well-trained, and like-minded folks. The Club was formed by outdoor enthusiasts in 1972 and has ever since seen its membership enjoy back country tours in our scenic Rockies, ski lessons and programming for youth and adults, and the numerous day tours to the many great cross country skiing sites in Central Alberta. We offer training and social events to all winter outdoor enthusiasts looking to enjoy cross country skiing and adventure.

Our Story

The Red Deer Nordic Ski Club comes from a rich history of community and outdoor adventure. Initially started in 1972 as Parkland Cross Country, the club was geared to ski touring, and winter mountain adventure. Throughout the years, we have seen the membership add a youth division, named Red Deer Nordic, then recently in 2024, the two clubs joined to create one comprehensive and collaborative group for Red Deer and surrounding areas. The community of nordic families in Central Alberta is rich. Our history is deep. Our people are knowledgeable and awesome. We hope to facilitate growth, involvement, communication, sharing of knowledge and a stronger nordic presence in our community and province.
